Before joining Genuine Happiness International Foundation, Mariam was full of potential but lacked the space to shape it. Raised in a rural village near Pallisa, she often braided her siblings’ hair with nothing but a comb and creativity. It wasn’t work it was care. But outside her home, that care was overlooked. She wanted to be seen, respected, and skilled.

At GHIF, Mariam enrolled in the Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy program, where she learned not just techniques—washing, styling, skin care, and customer care but also confidence, professional etiquette, and entrepreneurship.  Every training session became a thread in her transformation: from shy observer to proud stylist.

Now, Mariam runs a small beauty studio from a rented kiosk, where she offers affordable, dignified services to women in her community; many of whom have never stepped into a formal salon before.

“Every braid I make is a celebration of someone’s strength. Genuine Happiness International Foundation taught me that beauty starts with dignity” says Mariam, Hair & Beauty Graduate.
